Resolutions Revisited

erratic_prophet | 10 January, 2006 11:38

This is the time of year when we all take stock of our lives and what we have and haven't accomplished. Curse those blasted New Year's Resolutions! Especially those you post online. Here's mine from last year (with my notes from this year):

  • Don't attract anymore psychos. (Except for Snippy-- the ex-boss-- I think I did that well enough.)
  • Really. It's enough already. Stop it with the psychos. (I'm trying! Sheesh..)
  • Take State Board exam. (Done!)
  • Pass (hopefully) State Board exam. (And done!)
  • Maybe you should just avoid people in general. One of them might be a psycho. (Tried that, too. But avoiding doesn't work for those who like to chase. Maybe I should start wearing underwear outside my clothes and try growling and drooling occasionally.)

  • Do not engage current psycho stalkers. Avoid, avoid, avoid. (I got rid of those psychos. Yay, me!)
  • Should you wind up dating a man that you later realize is psychotic, avoid any proposals of marriage. (Date? What is this thing you call dating?)
  • Maybe get in some more exercise or something. (I was doing so well at this and now I'm a totally slacker ass and have been since November.)
  • Try to eat a wee bit healthier. Won't kill you. (Same as above. The holidays killed me.)
  • Stalker? Might kill you. Do not answer phone when he calls. (Got rid of him! Yay!)
  • Try to read some classic literature. (Tried. I currently have the attention span of a gnat on crack. Can't read more than a few words before I'm distracted by-- Oh, shiny!)
  • Do not flash book around like an intellectual snob. (I am an intellectual snob.)
  • Ok, don't flash book around much. Have some dignity. (When I did try reading, I did try to avoid looking like the intellectual snob. I didn't do it well, but I tried!)
  • Saving money might be a good idea. Try it. (Saved a smidge. Spent a lot more.)
  • Find job minus vicious boss who will shred your self-esteem into bite-size pieces. (I actually like my manager. She sucks up to me.)
  • Call/write/email friends more often, you awful, awful person. (I'm an awful, awful person...)

And this year's resolutions:

  • Kinda, sorta, maybe think about getting a social life. Maybe.
  • A social life without the crazies.
  • Stop being such a lazy arse and post in my blog a wee smidge more.
  • And get some exercise! God!
  • Change departments at work because this whole carting around clothes like a mule isn't working for me.
  • Get a professional manicure and pedicure. Sad to say, I'm in the business and I've never had that done.
  • Avoid set-ups and blind dates like the plague that they are. (Yes, I'm looking at you, J. Just because I can pass for a decade younger doesn't mean I should date someone that age.)
  • Hopefully, get back into reading.
  • Buy a friggin' mp3 player already. I so need one.
  • Draw more than once every few years. Can we say rusty?
  • Should I even bother putting down "Save money"? Nah..
  • Again with the lack of writing and calling, Ms. AntiSocial.

Let's see how well I do this year.

You definately must get an mp3 player, you'll wonder how you got by without one for so long!

Manicure and pedicure....heaven...treat yourself!

Michelle- I complain to anyone who will listen-- on a nearly daily basis-- about how badly I need an mp3 player. CDs and player are too cumbersome.

It'll be nice to have someone else dealing with my cuticles for once, that's for sure!
